Washington Redskins Have Found Their Guy

Adam Schefter tweeted out this morning that the Washington Redskins and Jay Gruden the now former offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals have reached an agreement. It was made known over the last few days the close relationship Gruden had with the ownership of the Redskins and that the vacancy had come down to Gruden and James Franklin of Vanderbilt.

Franklin was offered the Penn St. job late last night and it sounded as if he took the Redskins off the table completely. Because of that the Redskins moved forward on Gruden and made him his offer.

Gruden has been under scrutiny for the way his offense has performed in their last two playoff games but in the regular season their is no denying he coached one of the premiere offenses in the league. Jay Gruden is the younger brother of Jon Gruden a former Tampa Bay and Oakland Raiders coach who now does work for ESPN. Jay was a head coach in the arena football league before coming over to the Bengals.

Whatever the case may be it was reported earlier this week RGIII had a say in who they brought in as a coach. And with Gruden's close ties to ownership I wonder how much say RGIII actually had. Either way it'll be an interesting season with Gruden as head coach of his first NFL team.
