Stoops May Leave College Ranks

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported late last night during the Sugar Bowl that that may have in fact been Bob Stoops final game at Oklahoma. Earlier this season Stoops when being interviewed during a radio show expressed his interest in a possible jump to the NFL. He has had offers in other years but has never been tempted to leave. Now after seeing his long time coaching rival Mack Brown being let go at Texas he might be thinking now might be as good a time as any to leave.

Stoops was born in Youngstown, OH where his father is a local coaching legend at Cardinal Mooney HS where Stoops graduated. His entire family were born and bread coaches and this gives Stoops an opportunity to move closer to home and coach a hometown favorite team.

The Browns will not release a statement as to whether or not they have contacted Stoops but most in the Cleveland area feel that this is the guy the Browns have determined as their #1 target.

Stoops has a 160-39 career coaching record and has coached 13 first round NFL draft picks. His most notable current player is Adrian Peterson and Sam Bradford. He has been at Oklahoma since 1999.
