James Franklin to Penn St?

I am hearing very late tonight that Penn State has indeed offered James Franklin a job to be their head coach for the foreseeable future. Franklin will take the night to mull over the offer and make a decision tomorrow regarding whether or not he will return to Vanderbilt, continue searching for another opportunity or take the Penn St. offer.

Franklin, 41, has been at Vanderbilt for  3 seasons where he is 24-15. Many people have begun talking in the NFL about Franklin this offseason as a potential suitor for a couple of the openings this season. Franklin has yet to interview for any position in the NFL and he was most notably tied to the Redskins as a candidate.

Franklin is a coach on the rise after his first stint as a head coach in the college ranks. Many college and professional minds see Franklin as a rising star so if Penn St. is the school to land him then great job on their part. Either way Franklin may be in for a long night.
