Only Two Spots Left

With Jim Caldwell agreeing to become the new head coach of the Detroit Lions that leaves just the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings as teams looking for their next head coach.

Currently, Mike Zimmer is the leading candidate in Minnesota and I highly suspect that deal will be announced in the next 24 hours.

Cleveland on the other hand has been a tough team to figure out and while we have ideas on who their top candidate is (Adam Gase) they are still bringing coaches in for their first round of interviews (Mike Munchak).

As we wait for these positions to be filled their are other layers that get effected. For example Jim Caldwell will be taking the secondary coach from the Ravens who will now need to find a replacement.

Because of this there are some big coordinator positions that will need to be filled and these coaches could be or have been head coaches. Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, San Diego Chargers, and the Baltimore Ravens are all currently searching for new offensive coordinators. Some of these positions will be filled by someone being promoted (Frank Reich in San Diego) others will be filled by positional coaches from other teams.

Since Zimmer will likely be hired in Minnesota the Cincinnati Bengals will be looking for a new defensive coordinator. Most of the major college programs have filled out their coaching staffs so I don't see anyone being plucked from the NFL to take over their. Once February arrives teams will be in full fledged free agent mode examining who will stay and who will go.
