2014 College Guard Rankings

This years class will bring the guard position back to reality. Last years class saw two elite guards in Warmack and Cooper along with two above average players in Pugh and Long (who could become a tackle). This class will possible see one maybe two guards selected in the first round.

1. Gabe Jackson 6'4 320 MSST SR.: Jackson is an excellent run blocker and with that ability alone could be a late first round pick. It is his pass protection skills that need to improve his senior year to guarantee a day 1 selection.

2. David Yankey 6'5 301 Stanford JR: Yankey is a bit undersized as an interior lineman but Stanford will move him to guard after spending last season at tackle. He does everything well but I'll be interested to see how he handles the size the of the interior defensive lineman. That will determine if he is a day 1 or day 2 guard.

3. Anthony Steen 6'3 303 Alabama SR: Alabama is consistently pumping out offensive lineman into the NFL and Steen will be no different. He had a good season last year but went relatively unnoticed with Warmack, Jones and Fluker being on that dominant line. Steen is an above average pass protector and run blocker.

4. Cyril Richardson 6'5 335 Baylor JR: Richardson and Jackson are very similar and the reason Richardson is lower is because he has yet to show his experience at guard. He played admirably last year at tackle and will move back inside this season. If he shows success his name could rise up this list.

5. Xavier Su'a-Filo 6'4 295 UCLA JR: He was Jonathan Franklin go to run blocker and he is a bit more mature than most juniors after doing a two year mission after his freshman year. He is a guard/tackle tweener and needs to pack on the weight of he is to move inside.

Why Change A Good Thing?

With the draft being pushed back roughly two weeks we need to question why the NFL wants to do this. While we all know Radio City Music Hall has been the host of the event for the last 8 years, its time to decide on a new venue and not let a venue decide the NFL off season schedule.

One month after the draft roughly 60% of the draft class has been signed. The numbers were roughly the same last year as well. Pushing the draft backwards only delays the time these players have to sign and report to their teams. While most of these rookies have signed waivers allowing them to participate in practice while not being signed under contract, it'll still be a factor.

The one positive I see to the draft being pushed back is for the rookies who sign their deals quickly. The longer the players take in signing their contracts the later they will receive their money. The closer to camp they are the less likely they will overspend their newly found fortunes during their free time.

The largest negative is the media influence on the draft. This another two weeks to over analyze many of these young individuals and break down their football careers and lives into microcosms. The NFL draft is already known as the toughest job interview there is and all this would do is make these players go through more "choreographed" loops and tests.

Now, the upcoming draft will be held from May 8th-10th. The dates changed because of the Radio Music city was set to have other plans for the usual date but the date move allows no problem and the NFL intends to keep the draft in May.

The NFL says it doesn't change the length of the NFL offseason and the 2014 League year date is March 11th with the NFL combine starting Febuary 18th and going to the 25th.

49ers suffer major blow

Receiver Michael Crabtree has suffered a torn achilles tendon. This injury will require surgery and could cause Crabtree to miss the entire season. Rarely do players come back from such an injury in less than year, but recently Terrell Suggs and Da'Quan Bowers returned to their teams after being placed on the PUP (Physically unable to perform, which when placed on means he cannot return until after week 6 of the regular season) list after tearing their achilles in the spring. This usually isn't the case but it leaves the Niners hopeful Crabtree can rehab and be back at some point towards the end of the season.

Crabtree had his best year a season ago and ended all the skepticism of him being a bust. He caught 85 balls for 1105 yards and 9 TDs. The offense is going to have to be more dependent on TE Vernon Davis, newcomer Anquan Boldin, Kyle Williams, who's coming off a torn ACL, Mario Manningham and last years first pick A.J Jenkins, who didn't see the field a year ago. The team also drafted Quinton Patton in the 4th round of this years draft and they just signed him to a contract today.

2014 College Tackle Rankings

1. Jake Matthews 6'5 305 SR. Texas A&M: Matthews comes from a long line of Matthews who have played and been successful in the NFL. Most notably his Hall of Fame father Bruce Matthews. Matthews played right side this past season allowing #2 pick Luke Joekel to man the left side. This season he'll move to left and I think he'll have no trouble with the transition.

2. Taylor Lewan 6'8 309 SR. Michigan: Lewan might be the best pass protector in this class. He faced Clowney in the bowl game in which he did an excellent job shutting out then consensus #1 player in the 2014 draft. He is athletic but a bit lean and not a physical run blocker but teams will look past that.

3. Cyrus Kouandjio 6'6 311 Jr. Alabama: According to ESPN's Mel Kiper, Kouandjio only allowed 3.5 sacks this past season. He comes from a long heritage of talented Alabama lineman but on tape Warmack still stuck out as their best lineman and he was a guard. Kouandjio is still a sure fire first rounder if he declares.

4. James Hurst 6'7 290 Sr. UNC: Hurst was a very good player for an average Tar Heel team last season. This is again a Butch Davis effect, because he knows how to recruit NFL type players. Hurst is very athletic but a bit lean at 290. If he bulks up some he is a very good blindside protector.

5. Antonio Richardson 6'6 332 Jr. Tennessee: He had a very good game against Georgia in which he shut down Jarvis Jones. But at 332 I see him more like DJ Fluker and playing right tackle next year than left tackle.

Removing Preseason Games Still Hot Topic

Roger Goodell says that "I hear from fans consistently that they want to make every NFL event more valuable. They see the preseason as being less valuable,e to them because they don't see the best players and the games do not count," he said. "We have to address that, whether we are looking at 18 [regular-season games] and two [preseason games] or 16-and-two and expanded playoffs."

While the NFL is still unsure the best route of action to take, Goodell has asked the competition committee to take a look at end extended playoff to see if maybe that's the way to go.

Players have been very negative when asked about removing two preseason games and while most have vocalized their opinion about an 18 game season, it'll be interesting to see their reaction to an extra playoff spot.

Players are about whatever will make them more money and while many get bonuses for making the playoffs this could entice them to at least hear the ideas presented.

I think from a fans perspective the more games the better, but if Goodell is looking to make this a safer league than the extra games go against that philosophy. He has spent the majority of his tenure changing the main rules to this game. While truly no extra games will be played (changing two preseason games) he'll look to make another major change in a game that is already the #1 sport in America.

A Legend Retires

One of the all time great linebackers, Brian Urlacher, has decided to retire. Urlacher played 13 seasons, all with the Bears, racking up 1353 tackles, 41.5 sacks, 12 forced fumbles. 22 ints, and 8 time Pro Bowler. Urlacher did not find to much luck in free agency and he wasn't receiving enough money to continue playing.

Urlacher wrote, "After spending a lot time this spring thinking about my NFL future, I have made the decision to retire, Although I could continue playing, I'm not sure I would bring a level of performance or passion that's up to my standards. When considering this, along with the fact that I could retire after 13-year career wearing only one jersey for such a storied franchise, my decision became pretty clear. I want to thank all the people in my life that have help me along the way. I will miss my teammates, my coaches, and the great Bears fans. I'm proud to say that I gave all of you everything I had every time I took the field. I will miss the great game, but I leave with no regrets."

In my eyes, Urlacher is a first ballot Hall of Famer. He has been one of the best since he came into the league and he has led top defense after top defense.

2014 College Tight End Rankings

1. Colt Lyerla ORE 6'5 245 Jr.: Colt is an athletic mismatch and while he doesn't possess the blocking skills needed at the NFL level he will be very effective in the passing game. He is a big target who is fluid in his route running.

2. Xavier Gimble USC 6'5 255 Jr.: Humble was USC third leading receiver behind 2nd round pick Robert Woods and the current #1 Wide receiver in the country Marquise Lee. He is an above average blocker with average run after the catch ability.

3. Eric Ebron UNC 6'4 240 Jr.: Some say his athleticism is similar to that of Aaron Hernandez. Butch Davis (former coach) recruited him and Butch has a knack for producing NFL productive players.

4. Austin Seferian-Jenkins WAS 6'6 265 Jr.: Great size and strength tight end with a good ability to make plays with the ball in his hands.

5. Jacob Pederson WIS 6'4 245 Sr.: Has very good after the catch ability for a tight end but needs to see more targets this season.

2014 College WR Rankings

1. Marqise Lee, 6'1 195- He was the best receiver in the country a year ago and if he could've have gone to the draft he would have been the first receiver taken. He is big, fast and he is explosive with the ball in his hands and can get open. He was able to get open for a good QB in Matt Barkely and made good use of it, tallying 118 catches for 1721 yards and 14 TD's. He is a game changer for any team. He is one of the best players in this draft.

2. Sammy Watkins, 6'1 200- Watkins looked like an NFL player as a freshman, but going into his sophmore year he ran into trouble and was suspended. When he came back and the better receiver was DeAndre Hopkins who got drafted by the Texans in the first round.  He is big, fast and has great vision. If he can improve from last year and stay in the games he will be drafted in the top 15. He and Lee will compete for the Biletnikoff award.

3. Jordan Mathews 6'3 205- He plays in the SEC and has gone against NFL type corners. He was the main point in the offense a year ago and will likely try to improve on his 94 catch, 1323 yard, 8 touchdown season. He can go up and get the ball and he plays the ball well. He doesn't show great speed but he gets open.

4. Davante Adams, 6'2 200- He was extremely productive for Fresno State as a Freshman(RS) he grabbed 103 passes for 1312 yards and 14 TD's. He is a down field threat who can go up and get the ball. He is agile and quick and can get away from defenders. He plays in a lousy conference but when he played against good competition he still put up solid numbers. He should get better going into the year and be looked at as a top receiver in the upcoming draft.

5. Mike Evans, 6'5 220- He is huge and was Texas A&Ms best receiver a year ago. He had more catches and yards than fellow teammate Ryan Swope, who was selected in the 6th round by the cardinals. He is a big target and he can make catches all over the field. He is strong and agile for being 6'5. He is going to be Manziels number 1 guy and his numbers should improve. If he can show more speed and quickness he can find himself as a top receiver in the draft.

Rolando McClain Releases statement

Here is Rolando McClains statement on his retirement, "Clearly, my decision has raised some questions. I love football, but I have decided at this time it is in my best interest to focus on getting my personal life together. Beyond that, I'm not sure what the future holds for me, including football. This was entirely my decision and the Ravens have been very supportive during the process. I am very grateful for the opportunity they gave me and wish them the best of luck in the future. God willing, maybe I'll play for them one day."

Glad to see a young man look to turn his life around and put his life ahead of football.

McClain Done At 23

Rolando McClain, 23, informed Ozzie Newsome that he plans on retiring. McClain signed roughly one month ago as a potential replacement to Ray Lewis.

McClain was drafted number 8 overall in the 2010 draft by the Oakland Raiders. In his short two season stint with the Raiders he seemed to constantly be in the news.

Arrested 3 times in tbe last 11 months the Raiders could no longer deal with the character
issues and lack of production released McClain.

This is another young high profile troubled athlete like Titus Young and the NFL needs to find a way to reach out to these young men. Hopefully, McClain is making this decision for the right reasons. He finishes his career with 244 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 1 interception.

McNabb To Retire An Eagle

The man who once was booed when they called his name on draft day and throughout his final years in Philly, will return home to retire.

McNabb was the Eagles first round pick in 1999 and can in with a lot of scrutiny. He finished after 11 seasons becoming the Eagles all time leader in passing yards (32,873), passing touchdowns (213), and the most games played. He holds other single game records as well.

He led them to a super bowl which they lost to the Patriots and his play came into question.

But, the fans in Philly loved McNabb in his prime in which they were the dominant team of the NFC East. He'll retire during a home game this season but hasn't expressed which one it'll be.

"This Is Not My Son"

Normally, when I provide links for a particular article I'll just put it in my daily round up. But I read this article after last nights post and didn't want to wait the whole day to share it.

Something is clearly wrong with Titus Young. Three arrests in a week, suspicious activity involving him prior to his latest arrest and issues when he was on the Lions have cause his family and members around the NFL and his high school coach great cancer.

Some say it was from his concussion and that it possibly may have triggered a mental disorder. Some think he may have gotten into some sort of drug use.

Whatever the case may be, Titus Young clearly needs help. Whether its fellow wide receiver Brandon Marshall who was diagnosed a few years ago, who thinks he needs to be dealt with the right way because far to often we brush mental illness under the rug. He says Titus shouldn't be scared to get help, to many put a stigma on mental health but there shouldn't be one.

Or, Torrey Smith of the Ravens who tweets "Prayers up for Titus Young right now...he is going thru something that seems easy outside looking in to handle...we don't know his problems".

Even Titus' high school coach says something is different about Titus and he is a young man in desperate need of help. Whatever the case may be I hope for the best for this young man. Football is secondary to him, first should be his life.

GM Nixes Title

In 2010, Buddy Nix took over as general manager of the Buffalo Bills. Today, he has decided to step down from that position. He'll stay on staff as special assistant to new general manager Doug Whaley.

Nix made some big splashes in free agency last season, which did seem to work. He took a shot on quarterback EJ Manuel with the Bills first round pick this year, which had many critics second guessing his decision.

Doug was brought in to be Nix's assistant in 2010 after 10 years with the Steelers. This will be his first general manager position.

Giants Land Former Top 5 Linebacker

Aaron Curry announced via twitter today that he is now a New York Giant. Curry, 27, was drafted 4th overall by the Seattle Seahawks after putting together an excellent college season and impressive combine numbers. Curry has never lived up to expectations and was traded from the Seahawks to the Raiders for a 2012 7th red pick and a 2013 5th round pick. The Raiders then ended up releasing him after he had trouble staying healthy.

The Giants had a hole at linebacker and have opted to once again pursue bargains in free agency to fill needs. This is back to back years they have acquired former first round draft picks (Keith Rivers), while they haven't drafted a first round linebacker since Carl Banks.

Dansby back in red

Linebacker Karlos Dansby has signed back with the Arizona Cardinals. Dansby was a big part of the defense when the team went to the Superbowl in 2009. He was a leader for them and I expect him to come in and play a similar role.

He has played with the Dolphins the last 3 years and last year he racked up 134 tackles and a sack. He has 709 tackles, 31.5 sacks, 15 forced fumbles and 11 interceptions in his career. Dansby is still just 31 years old and still has good years ahead of him. With Cardinals Daryl Washington being suspended and consistently getting in trouble with the law, Dansby will be used right away.

2014 College Running Back Prospects

Here are our top running back prospects entering the 2014 college season:

1. De'Anthony Thomas: 5'9 176: De'Anthony Thomas is the most explosive player entering the 2013 college football season. His value will be strongly based on how well Tavon Austin (5'9 174) performs this season in the NFL. I don't view Thomas as an NFL running back but keep an eye on Austin because Thomas will be used similarly.

2. James Wilder Jr.: 6'2 226: Very physical runner and will be viewed a lot like Le'Veon Bell was this season. He'll take on an increased work load especially with Florida St. working a new quarterback into the offense. If he can show strong production and good durability he'll be a top back next year.

3. Trey Burton: 6'3 228: He was one of the most explosive and exciting players in 2011, but his play dipped in 2012. He has a rare mix of size and speed. At 6'3 he is a bit tall for a running back and needs to run with a lower pad level. If he shows his 2011 production he could be the top running back taken.

4. Silas Redd: 5'10 200: Redd like Burton had an excellent 2011 season and then he transferred. The difference in the drop off in play is Redd suffered an early season knee injury and never seemed to live up to the hype. Durability will be a major question entering the 2013 season and will need to pack on more muscle.

5. Ka'Deem Carey: 5'10 190: A bit undersized at just 190 pounds and questions will be if he can be an every down back in the NFL. But, he is as explosive as any player on this list. Rushed form over 1,900 yards and 23 touchdowns last season. He'll make a good complimentary back in the NFL.

Top 5 Pick signs

The Lions have signed the number 5 pick in the draft defensive end Ezekiel Ziggy Ansah. Ansah, 6'6 270, is a raw talent, who didn't have a ton of production at the college level, but showed major potential a year ago. He is big and should help fill the void of losing their two defensive ends, Kyle Vanden Bosch and Cliff Avril.

With the new CBA rookies have a much easier time signing contracts. With Kenny Vaccaro signing earlier in the week expect the rest of the first round picks to sign, most should be coming within the next week or two.

2014 College QB Rankings

These are the top prospect at Quarterback coming into the 2013 season based on what we saw last year.

1. Teddy Bridgewater, 6'3 220- He has good size and great arm strength. He is an accurate passer who can buy time and he finds open receivers. He is athletic and we have seen the athletic quarteracks move higher and higher up boards in recent years. He has great pocket awareness and does not let the rush affect his vision down the field. One of the most important things is he is a leader.

2. Tajh Boyd, 6'1 225- Another athletic type quarterback with a great arm strength. If the read option is going to stay in the NFL then he is a very attractive prospect. He doesn't always make the best decisions but has a strong enough arm to fit the ball where he wants. He can prolong plays by escaping pressure and can throw well on the run.

3. Johnny Manziel, 6'1 200- A very competitive and athletic player but he is small and potential injuries could be a concern. He also fits into the athletic quarterback who can run the read option which will help him at the pro level. He is explosive and has good vision running the ball. Again, he is small but still shows good vision as a passer.  He has the ability to run around and make incredible throws. He is an emotional leader who drives his team. He can escape pressure and improvise very well. He should only get better seeing he was only a freshman(RS) a year ago.

4. AJ McCarron, 6'4 210- He has the "prototypical" size of an NFL quarterback. He has won numerous times at the college level and is a proven leader. He is an average athlete and more of a pocket passer then the ones ahead of him. He can still move around the pocket and make all of the throws. He knows how to manage a game and shows anticipation you want in a quarterback.

5. Aaron Murray, 6'1 210- Has a great approach to the game and has been considered at times a top quarterback. He is going into his senior year and is the leader of the offense. He is undersized for being a pocket passer. He has improved as a passer every year for Georgia.

Urlacher's Hopeful Replacement Signs

Jon Bostic has agreed to a contract with the Chicago Bears this afternoon.

Bostic, 22, was the 50th overall player selected in the draft. While at Florida he received all 2nd team SEC honors this past season. He has good size at 6'1 245 but lacks a great burst and quickness. He is very good at diagnosing run plays but has a tendency to overrun when in pursuit.

This is the highest player to date to sign with their team.

Ravens And Colts Agree To Trade

The Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts have agreed on a trade that would send center A.Q. Shipley to the Ravens and a 2014 conditional draft pick to the Colts.

Shipley who started 5 games but played in 14 for the make shift offensive line in Indianpolis. When the Colts drafted Khaled Holmes out of USC he knew his time in Indianapolis would be cut short.

The Ravens are looking for a replacement for Matt Birk who retired this off season. Shipley and Gino Gradkowski will compete in Baltimore for the starting center position.

Bucaneers lose final defensive star of 2002 superbowl team to retirement

Ronde Barber has decided to hang up the cleats. The 16 year veteran decided there wasn't a role on this years team and didn't want to play elsewhere. He calls it a career with 47 ints, 16 forced fumbles, 28 sacks, and 8 TD's. He is the only player in NFL history to have over 40 INT's and 25 sacks in his career. He was a five time Probowler and three time All-Pro.

Barber has played corner on the outside, the inside and he also played safety for this defense. He was apart of the 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs defense, one of the best in the history of the NFL, that won the Superbowl. Barber returned a Donavon McNabb interception 92 yards for a touchdown to solidify their spot in the Superbowl.

Ronde Barber is a sure Hall of Famer.

Gronk Needs A 4th, Possibly a 5th Surgery

There is still hope that Rob Gronkowski may not need any surgeries. But their is a chance that when they go in to switch the plate in his forearm and the bacterial infection is still there, than they'll have to wait and perform a 5th surgery.

As reported earlier in the week, Gronkowski walked into training facilities in great shape. But there is still no telling what the inside of the arm looks like.

If he requires a 5th surgery because his arm isn't healing correctly than he may miss the beginning of training camp.

Cardinals Bringing In Linebacker For A Visit

The Arizona Cardinals will be hosting linebacker Karlos Dansby, 31, for a visit Wednesday (today).

Dansby, was originally drafted by the Cardinals with the 33rd overall pick in 2004. He was franchised two times while playing for the Cardinals in 08' and 09' with the team and Dansby never being able to work out a long term deal.

Dansby was the leader of the defense that went to the Super Bowl in 2008.

NFC South Draft Grades

Atlanta Falcons:

Rd. 1: Desmond Trufant CB: Trufant has NFL pedigree in his family who have shown him the ins and outs. He possesses great ball skills and will fit well in the Falcons style of defense.

Rd. 2: Robert Alford CB: Most drafts you go in hoping to get an immediate impact player. The Falcons landed two with their first two picks. Alford is a small school player with big time talent.

Rd. 4: Malliciah Goodman DE: I like this pick based off value and versatility. Goodman is a nice end rusher and has the size and strength to play the run. He can also be moved inside on certain packages.

Rd. 4: Levine Toilolo TE: Another solid pick. Matt Ryan gets a large red zone target in the 6'8 Toilolo. He is a bit raw at the position and will take more than a full year to truly develop but could become a special player.

Rd. 5: Stansly Maponga DE: Maponga is an undersized defensive end but flashes some potential as a pass rusher. Very inconsistent and tends to be slow off the snap.

Rd. 7: Kemal Ishmael S: He was the 2012 defensive player of then year. Has good size as a strong safety and is an above average tackler.

Rd. 7: Zeke Motta S: This is a steal for a 7th round pick. He has great size and intelligence. He lacks elite athleticism and strong play making abilities.

Rd. 7: Sean Renfree QB: Renfree was in my top 10 quarterbacks. David Cutcliffe knows how to groom smart players and he'll be a great back up for the Falcons.

Overall Grade: A-

Carolina Panthers:

Rd. 1: Star Lotulelei DT: Lotulelei was once considered the #1 pick in the draft until a medical condition was discovered back in February. This was a major need for the Panthers after being one of the worst run defenses in the league.

Rd. 2: Kawann Short DT: Using back to back picks on the same position shows just how large a need this was. The Panthers new GM Dave Gettleman comes from the Giants who believe building along the offensive and defensive lines is most important.

Rd. 4: Edmund Kugbila OG: I think his athleticism caught some by surprise. This is a potential developmental player who I think could have been drafted later.

Rd. 5: AJ Klein LB: There were better players on the board here and this wasn't a position of need.

Rd. 6: Kenjon Barner RB: They do need a pass catching threat at RB and Barber is nice value as an explosive type player late in the draft.

Overall Grade: C

New Orleans Saints:

Rd. 1: Kenny Vaccaro S: I think Jarvis Jones would have been a nice fit here as well but they couldn't go wrong. In a deep safety class Vaccaro was the best of them all.

Rd. 3: Terron Armstead OT: Steal!Steal!Steal! Might be one of my favorite players in this draft. He had a very good senior bowl practice, and his combine numbers were the best ever. Will be a pro bowler in a few years.

Rd. 3: John Jenkins DT: Jenkins is a big ole boy. 330 pounds or more and weight control will be an issue. But when his motor is going he is a impact player.

Rd. 5: Kenny Stills WR: I think he'll have immediate impact with the Saints next season.

Rd. 6: Rufus Johnson DE: He is a developmental small school kid with upside.

Overall Grade: A-

Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

Rd. 2: Johnathan Banks CB: Good value here as some had him as a second round pick. Buccaneers made it a point to address their secondary this off season.

Rd. 3: Mike Glennon QB: A bit of a reach since both Nassib and Barkley were still on the board. Think they could have gone elsewhere and still nabbed Glennon in the 4th.

Rd. 4: Akeem Spence DT: A good value find and adds depth to a strong position. A quick athletic defensive tackle and will be a nice rotational player.

Rd. 4: William Gholston DE: Another gifted big athlete who like Spence is to inconsistent and why they both fell to the 4th round.

Rd. 5: Steve Means DE: A reach pick on a developmental player. Bucks really wanted to address their line play and add competition.

Rd. 6: Mike James RB: Miami running backs have some pedigree in the NFL and they did trade Blount and release Ward. This will help immediate depth.

Overall Grade: B

Daily Round Up

Former pro bowl tackle Tyson Clabo signs with the Miami Dolphins ending an already quiet trade market for the Chiefs Brandon Albert.

Yesterday, we shared a story on Luke Joeckel being moved to the right side. Here is a follow up from ESPN.

When the Patriots traded for Legarette Blunt, they also restructured his contract.

Rumor has it that Benjarvis Green-Ellis might be getting the majority of the carries for the Bengals. Bengals to use runningback by committee.

With no suitors for Tim Tebow he may have chances off of the field.

T.O. would love to be back in the NFL and he would specifically love to do it on the Patriots.

Former Jets corner Cliff Harris is having a particularly bad week. Arrested for marijuana possession, then released from Jets and now arrested again.

NFC North Grades

Chicago Bears-
Rd 1: Kyle Long OL- He is huge and has the potential to play any where on the line. He has one of the highest ceiling of any lineman because his lack of experience but shows power and athleticism. He should be able to find playing time if he can grasp the concept of the offense.

Rd 2: Jon Bostic LB- Tested well at the combine, but has some flaws as a linebacker. He does not always take good angles getting to the ball carrier. If he wants to stay on the field on all 3 downs he is going to need work in coverage. Overall a little early of a pick but backers were going so they filled a need and he should find the field early.

Rd 4: Khaseem Greene LB- A steal, he should have gone much earlier. He should be able to find the field early and learn behind Lance Briggs. He is solid as a blitzer, and ge was a former safety so coverage should not be a problem.

Rd 5: Jordan Mills OT- He has a chance to compete with J'Marcus Webb at right tackle from day 1. He does not do a great job with speed edge rushers and is much better suited for the running game.

Rd 6: Cornelius Washington DE- He dropped way to far and for no good reason. He has the ability and size to play the run and the pass. He can learn from Julius Peppers and could find some playing time. He is just as good a option as Corey Wooten.

Rd 7: Marquess Wilson WR- A smooth route runner who can catch the ball. He dropped this far because of questions with coach Mike Leach(who has had other problems.. Texas Tech). He has big play potential and is another big target for Cutler.

Overall Grade-B-

Detroit Lions-
Rd 1: Ezekiel Ansah DE- A raw prospect but fills one of their biggest needs. He was the top guy at the position and may struggle to find time early depending on how well he adapts to the NFL. He has the strength and speed to become a great pass rusher and has the ability to give the Lions one of the best defensive lines in football.

Rd 2: Darius Slay CB- Another raw prospect who has little experience but has the ability to play man coverage and fills a big need. He has the ability to start at right corner moving Bill Bentely to cover the slot.

Rd 3: Larry Warford OG- I think this is a steal. Some thought he was a late first round early 2nd round and he fell to the Lions in the 3rd. He can come in and start at guard. He kills in the run game but not excellent in pass which is what the lions do. It will be interesting to see if he can adapt to their offense but at the very least he adds depth.

Rd 4: Devin Taylor DE- A developmental guy who can find himself in the rotation of this revamped defensive end position. He fits a need and is he is huge (6'7 265).

Rd 5: Sam Martin P- They needed a punter and they got one.

Rd 6: Corey Fuller WR- He is big and has good speed (6'2 4.45) and can find playing time in the slot. They lost Titus Young to questionable character and Ryan Broyles to another ACL. Broyles may not be ready by the beginning of the season and Fuller will have to use that to find the field early.

Rd 6: Theo Riddick RB- A versatile player who can go in the slot or play in the back field. He should be able to learn from newly Aquired Reggie Bush. He has potential and fills a need.

Rd 7: Michael Williams TE- He is a blocking Tight End who will help the run game is goal line packages and short yardage situations.

Rd 7: Brandon Hepburn LB- Adds depth and has the ability to help on special teams.

Overall Grade- B-

Green Bay Packers-
Rd 1: Datone Jones DE- His rise was due to playing so well in the Senior Bowl. He is physical and can set the edge for the rushing backers of the Packers. He adds depth to their D-line and can help make an impact.

Rd 2: Eddy Lacy RB- The toe injury is the reason he dropped. Some thought he could go in the first and he ended up being the 4th running back taken. He fits well with this offense who needs help running the ball. He should get carries immediatley.

Rd 4: David Bakhtiari OT- He could compete to start at right tackle with the team deciding to move Bryan Bulaga to the left side. If he doesn't start he adds depth to a poor offensive line.

Rd 4: J.C. Tretter OL- He isn't extremely powerful but shows that he can play physical. He has good technique and can stay in front of pass rushers. He adds depth to their line.

Rd 4: Johnathan Franklin RB- He fits well with Lacy in the backfield. Lacy is the between the tackles tough runner. Franklin is the change of pace back who can make big plays and catch the ball out of the backfield. He is a good pass blocker and can pick up blitzes well.

Rd 5: Micah Hyde CB- He reads well and has good ball skills. He has the potential to be a playmaker. He can compete to play the slot corner.

Rd 5: Josh Boyd DT- He is big and takes up space to stop the run. He does not rush the passer. He adds depth and the ability to give B.J. Raji a break.

Rd 6: Nate Palmer LB- Adds depth and can line up on the outside. He needs to add strength because he isn't quite fast enough to get around the edge.

Rd 7: Charles Johnson WR- He ran in the 4.3s at his pro day and with his size 6-2 210 and the ability to jump, he can be a real steal this late in the draft.

Rd 7: Kevin Dorsey WR- He can stretch the field and the more targets for Rodgers the better. He is big and adds depth as the 4th or 5th receiver.

Rd 7: Sam Barrington LB- He is big and is a heavy hitter. He is a good tackler when he puts himself in the right position. He adds depth.

Overall Grade- B+

Minnesota Vikings-
Rd 1: Shariff Floyd DT- He fell big time and landed with a team he should be able to join the rotation immediately. He fits well with the defense they run and can be versatile, moving around the D-line. He was considered a top 5 pick for most so this is a major steal.

Rd 1: Xavier Rhodes CB- He is big and can play man. The Vikings run a Tampa two defense so he'll be playing zone which is not bad because he plays the run so well. He also fits perfectly and should start right away.

Rd 1: Cordarelle Patterson WR- Their 3rd first round pick and player who should learn from Greg Jennings on how to play the position. He has big play ability and is great with the ball in his hands. He should play a Percy Harvin type role with the offense.

Rd 4: Gerald Hodges LB- There has been talks about who will be playing inside backer for this team and if he shows he is capable then he has the potential to be the starter.

Rd 5: Jeff Locke P- A little early for a punter but he was one of the best available. He will compete with Chris Kluwe.

Rd 6: Jeff Baca OG- He needs work but shows the ability to run block and pass block. He sustains blocks and is willing to work. He adds depth to the offensive line.

Rd 7: Michael Mauti LB- Can't go wrong with a Penn State Linebacker. He held this group together through a tough year. The only problem are his knees and he just can't seem to keep them healthy.

Rd 7: Travis Bond OL- A versatile lineman who can move to tackle or guard and adds depth to their rotation.

Rd 7: Everett Dawkins DT- He doesn't hold his own but shows good hands and adds depth if he makes the team.

Overall Grade- B+
