49ers suffer major blow

Receiver Michael Crabtree has suffered a torn achilles tendon. This injury will require surgery and could cause Crabtree to miss the entire season. Rarely do players come back from such an injury in less than year, but recently Terrell Suggs and Da'Quan Bowers returned to their teams after being placed on the PUP (Physically unable to perform, which when placed on means he cannot return until after week 6 of the regular season) list after tearing their achilles in the spring. This usually isn't the case but it leaves the Niners hopeful Crabtree can rehab and be back at some point towards the end of the season.

Crabtree had his best year a season ago and ended all the skepticism of him being a bust. He caught 85 balls for 1105 yards and 9 TDs. The offense is going to have to be more dependent on TE Vernon Davis, newcomer Anquan Boldin, Kyle Williams, who's coming off a torn ACL, Mario Manningham and last years first pick A.J Jenkins, who didn't see the field a year ago. The team also drafted Quinton Patton in the 4th round of this years draft and they just signed him to a contract today.
