Removing Preseason Games Still Hot Topic

Roger Goodell says that "I hear from fans consistently that they want to make every NFL event more valuable. They see the preseason as being less valuable,e to them because they don't see the best players and the games do not count," he said. "We have to address that, whether we are looking at 18 [regular-season games] and two [preseason games] or 16-and-two and expanded playoffs."

While the NFL is still unsure the best route of action to take, Goodell has asked the competition committee to take a look at end extended playoff to see if maybe that's the way to go.

Players have been very negative when asked about removing two preseason games and while most have vocalized their opinion about an 18 game season, it'll be interesting to see their reaction to an extra playoff spot.

Players are about whatever will make them more money and while many get bonuses for making the playoffs this could entice them to at least hear the ideas presented.

I think from a fans perspective the more games the better, but if Goodell is looking to make this a safer league than the extra games go against that philosophy. He has spent the majority of his tenure changing the main rules to this game. While truly no extra games will be played (changing two preseason games) he'll look to make another major change in a game that is already the #1 sport in America.
