Team Needs: San Diego Chargers

San Diego Chargers- Another year, another struggle. Similar to the Cowboys, everyone has high hopes for the Chargers to begin the year, but then the season begins. Their offense was putrid a season ago ranking 31st and Philip Rivers needs protection and some viable targets to help this offense pick themselves up from a year ago. On Defense they lost their long time corner in Quentin Jammer and will need to find someone to help a pass defense that ranked 18th in the league.

Key 2012 Statistics:
Total Offense: 31st
Passing Offense: 24th
Rushing Offense: 27th
Passing TD/INT (Rank): 26/15 (T-11th/T-16th)
Rushing TD: T-31st
Sacks Allowed: 4th
Total Defense: 9th
Passing Defense: 18th
Rushing Defense: 6th
Sacks/INT (Rank): 38/14 (T-11th/T-16th)

Free Agency:
Key Losses: CB Antoine Cason, CB Quentin Jammer, LB Shaun Phillips, LB Takeo Spikes, OT Jared Gaither, DT Aubrayo Franklin, DL Antonio Garay, G Louis Vasquez

Key Additions: CB Derek Cox, OT King Dunlap, G Chad Rinehart, RB Danny Woodhead

Draft Needs:
Cornerback: They need help at corner after losing Cason and Jammer. They added Cox to the mix but still need help. If Cox can stay healthy, he is a solid corner, but in a division with Peyton Manning they are going to need some more help. They have to many needs on the offensive line to address this early but they look at add at least two corners from this strong class.

Safety: Eric Weddle can play the pass and the run as good as any safety in the league. They need someone alongside him that can improve the secondary. They have a young player in Brandon Taylor, drafted 73rd overall in the 2012 draft, but will look to add depth and competition at the position.

Offensive Line: They do not have much. They lost one of their only reliable lineman in G Louis Vasquez. They have a good center, but no left tackle and need help at both guard positions. The line will need to be addressed early and often to keep Philip Rivers standing upright.

Wide Receiver: Philip Rivers needs some more people to throw the ball to. Their off season additions last year, Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal, were very inconsistent and even nonexistent most of the time. They would like to add someone to help the offense stretch the defense. Look Aaron Dobson to be high on their list if available in the 3rd round.

Running Back: They have Ryan Matthews, Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown. Ryan Mathews has injury concerns and seems to always be out of the lineup. Woodhead and Brown are not every down backs and only play in certain packages. They need depth and someone who can make big plays.
