Team Needs: Oakland Raiders

Oakland Raiders- Where to begin with the Oakland Raiders? The Raiders had the 5th most pass attempts in the NFL last season and finished 8th in overall passing yards per game. Yet, they still managed a 4-12 record. Since 2001 only 1 of their 1st round picks still remain on the team (Darren McFadden). Rolando McClain was released and for good reason, JaMarcus Russell was released, Michael Huff wasn't resigned and there are plenty more. This year Oakland has a scouting team that has been evaluating for this draft all season. It's the first time in years the Raiders have a group that's been together that long that'll help make selections. The Raiders will be smart to trade and and if they can make multiple moves in the first round to acquire more picks than I think they should do it.

Key Statistics 2012:
Total Offense: 18th
Passing Offense: 8th
Rushing Offense: 28th
Passing TD/INT (ranks): 24/16 (T-13th/T-12th)
Rushing TD: T-31st
Sacks Allowed: T-27th
Total Defense: 18th
Passing Defense: 20th
Rushing Defense: 18th
Sacks/INT (ranks): 25/11 (31st/T-23rd)

Free Agency:
Key Losses: S Michael Huff, QB Carson Palmer (trade), DL Richard Seymour, LB Rolando McClain, DE Matt Shaughnessy, P Shane Lechler, WR Darius Heyward-Bey, DT Tommy Kelly, CB Shawntae Spencer

Key Additions: QB Matt Flynn (trade), LB Kevin Burnett, LB Nick Roach, CB Tracy Porter, RB Rashad Jennings

Draft Needs:
Defensive Line: Richard Seymour, Tommy Kelly and Matt Shaughnessy made up the majority of their starting defensive line. They didn't sign any players to fill in while young players developed or signed any immediate impact players. They were already one of the worst defensive lines in getting after the quarterback this past season. If they decide not to trade down which I think they have to do, than defensive line will be their first pick.

Cornerback: They signed Mike Jenkins who is better served as a slot corner but lost Michael Huff who they used at corner and  Shawntae Spencer. The team also acquired Tracy Porter who is an above average outside corner but they'll need to look to add one more. If they believe Jenkins is an outside quality corner and Hanson can play the slot this could be a late round depth pick.

Safety: Tyvon Branch seems to be a great 4th round find for the Raiders and he is clearly a starter but they need someone opposite side of him. They signed Usama Young who is an average to below average safety but possesses good size at 6' 200lbs. They'll use a mid round pick here.

Wide Receiver: I know most people think Quarterback has to be a top need but with Matt Flynn and Terrell Pryor I think they have more glaring needs that need to be addressed. Losing Heyward-Bey isn't the biggest loss but does take away one of their top receivers in 2012. Moore has a difficult time staying healthy and they'll need to add some quality depth at this position. Adding a bigger receiver who runs crisp routes but may lack speed is what the Raiders should target in the middle rounds.
